The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) continued its anti-encroachment and illegal construction drive, taking action in several parts of the city. Anti-encroachment squad carried out demolitions and removals on the basis of complaints reported through the CM Helpline and other means, as well as during their routine enforcement drives. The actions were taken against structures constructed on roads, sidewalks, corridors, and other public places.
Another major demolition operation was conducted on Jail Road, in front of Father Angel School (under Zone No. 20), where an unauthorised-built boundary wall of eight pillars and a staircase was brought down by JCB machines and manual efforts. Additionally, in Maida Mill Arjun Nagar sector, six houses which were identified as hindrances to on-going Metro Rail Project work were brought down by the corporation team.
Working under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan, the anti-encroachment squad worked extensively on Thursday. Steps were taken in locations such as Ashoka Garden, Karond 80 Feet Road, Sabzi Mandi, New Market, Arera Hills, Kolar Danish Kunj, Banskhedi Square, Mahabalipuram, Sarvdharm Colony, Shahjahanabad Park, Bagh Munshi Hussain Khan, Lalghati, Gufa Mandir, Bairagarh, Chanchal Square, Raisen Road, near Capital Petrol Pump, Maida Mill area, Arvind Nagar, New Jail Road, MP Nagar Zone-2, Ayodhya Nagar, near Pratibha Garden, Indrapuri, and Link Roads No. 1, 2, and 3.
During these raids, illegally positioned flooring slabs over drains were dismantled, different commodities shown illegally outside shops were removed, and things such as tea stalls, tables, and boards were taken away. The team also seized two vegetable carts, two roofed carts, and one plastic sheet arrangement (‘panni’). BMC authorities advised people against re-encroaching on public land and warned that stronger measures would be adopted if encroachments come back again. The corporation reiterated its continued resolve to demolish illegal structures and encroachments across the city.
