Rupchandani family, which narrowly escaped the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir, heaved a sigh of relief after landing at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport on Thursday. The family got a rousing welcome from the citizens. However, 257 tourists from Nagpur district are still stranded in Jammu & Kashmir and waiting to return to the city. The district administration established contact with all 257 tourists and they are safe.
Another flight from Mumbai will go to Kashmir to airlift another group of passengers of Maharashtra, informed Chief Minister Office (CMO) on its ‘X’ handle.

Already, 500 passengers have landed in Mumbai, including tourists from Nagpur district on Thursday.
Following the deadly terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, Nagpur Police ramped up security across the city on Thursday.
The action follows high-level alerts issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and national security agencies to all major cities.

Security arrangements have been tightened at key locations, including the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Mahal, Hedgewar Bhavan in Reshimbagh, Deekshabhoomi, and Nagpur Railway Station.
In a significant move to prevent communal unrest, Nagpur Police have also engaged religious leaders to support peace-building efforts.

On Wednesday, the district administration issued a 24x7 helpline number -- 0712-2562668, 8860018817 -- for family members of stranded tourists who can contact to get details about their people.
Administration also confirmed that most of the tourists are stranded in Srinagar, whereas some are in Jammu and other parts of the Union Territory. The district administration remains in close co-ordination with authorities in Kashmir to ensure the continued safety of Nagpur tourists and is actively monitoring the situation.
