During the attack, Gulshan Madan, a resident of Shankar Nagar of the city, was also in the Pahalgam valley with his family. Gulshan Madan told that 35 minutes before the terrorist attack, everyone had left the valley for Pahalgam. While descending from the valley, loud noises were heard, but we did not pay much attention to it. When we reached our hotel in Pahalgam, locals informed us about the terrorist attack.

Then we understood that the sounds were actual gun shots fired by the terrorists. The same sound kept echoing in our minds for hours. Since the incident, the army was deployed in Pahalgam. Due to which the entore family stayed in the hotel from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning. We could sirens of Army vehicles from our hotel throughout our stay. On Wednesday morning at around 5.30 am, they left for Jammu by a vehicle. During this time, Army soldiers also checked the vehicles at various places.

The family had reached Pahalgam after visiting Vaishno Devi. Gulshan Madan told that on April 17, he had left for Vaishno Devi Darshan with his wife, two daughters, two nieces and a nephew. After visiting Vaishno Devi, they had reached Pahalgam. After enjoying the picturesque valley where the incident took place, everyone was coming down. Everyone had left from here half an hour before the incident. While everyone was talking about sitting there and eating food, but due to problems in the vehicle while descending the valley, no one ate food and left from there without stopping and shortly after this, a terrorist attack took place that claimed 26 innocent lives.
