JABALPUR :
police started a rigorous anti-encroachment campaign, in association with
Jabalpur Municipal Corporation,
to remove illegal encroachments
for smooth traffic management
in the city.
Under the guidance of
Superintendent of Police, Sampat
Upadhyay (IPS), a combined
team of the police and the JMC
has initiated a campaign to
streamline and maintain smooth
traffic flow in the city by removing illegal encroachments that
hinder roadways.
In this effort, encroachments
including handcarts, kiosks, vegetable and fruit stalls, and other unauthorised structures
placed on public roads were
cleared from both sides of the
streets.
Materials displayed by
shopkeepers extending onto
public roads were also moved
back into shops to ensure free
and unobstructed traffic movement. Shopkeepers were
instructed not to display goods
outside their premises or allow
handcarts to block road space.
The operation was carried out
under the direction of Additional
SP (Traffic) Sonali Dubey and in
the presence of DSP (Traffic,
Garha) Baijnath Prajapati, along
with Traffic Station In-charges
Shivdayal Sanodia, Hardayal and

from both the police and the
municipal corporation.

targeted key areas including
Malviya Chowk, Karamchand
Chowk, Super Market, Chhoti
Line Phatak, Gorakhpur Bazaar,
Tripuri Chowk, Sadar Bazaar,
Ranjhi Bazaar, and Ghamapur
Chowk. In these areas, mobile
vendors and illegal structures
that were obstructing traffic were
removed, and normal traffic flow
was restored. This kind of action
will continue on a regular basis.
In addition, DSP (Traffic,
Garha) Baijnath Prajapati and
Inspector Hardayal Singh conducted a joint survey with the
NHAI team at accident-prone black spots like Ramanpur,
Sagra and Andhmuk to implement necessary corrective
measures aimed at reducing
road accidents. Relevant agencies were instructed to carry
out the improvement work
immediately.
Legal action was also taken
under various sections of the
Motor Vehicles Act against traffic violators, including e-rickshaw and auto drivers for
offenses like not wearing helmets or seat belts, illegal parking, lacking licenses and
obstructing public roads.
As part of the enforcement
drive, a total of 240 challans
were issued, resulting the collection of Rs 99,000 in financial penalties.
