A HIGH-LEVEL
meeting was held
under the chairmanship of
Collector Deepak Saxena to
address traffic management
issues in front of schools on
Friday. The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police
Sampat Upadhyay, Additional
Collector Misha Singh,
Additional SP (Traffic) Sonali
Dubey and other officials concerned.
The discussion focused on frequent traffic congestion
observed during school opening
and closing hours, which often
disrupts smooth vehicular
movement. It was emphasised
that all school managements
must ensure that school vehicles are parked within the campus premises and students are
picked up and dropped off inside
the school campus only.
The practice of picking up and
dropping off students on the
roadside must be strictly avoided. Collector Saxena instructed
that school authorities must
strictly adhere to traffic regulations.
He pointed out that most
vehicles currently pick up and
drop off students on public roads,
creating unnecessary traffic jams,
which is unacceptable.
To ensure effective implementation, the Collector directed formation of a District
Advisory Committee to inspect
schools and educate school managers on the importance of compliance. He also added that
necessary action should be
taken against any school management found to be noncooperative. Additional topics related to traffic management were also discussed in
the meeting, including the
removal of temporary roadside encroachments. The
Garuda team was directed to
intensify patrolling and take
necessary action. Instructions
were also issued regarding the
entry of heavy vehicles into
the city to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow.
