HOSTS Nagpur blanked Kolhapur 3-0 to top Group A in the WIFA State Inter-District Football Championship at Nagpur District Football Association’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Football Stadium in Suyog Nagar, on Sunday night. Having won all the three league matches, Nagpur will play Pune, who finished second behind Mumbai in Group B, in the semi-final to be played on Monday. In the other semis, Mumbai will take on Kolhapur who won one match, drew one and lost one. Playing their and league’s last match, Nagpur stamped their supremacy over Kolhapur. Owais Ashraf scored the first goal in 10th minute of play and the hosts led 1-0 at the break.
 
After resumption of play, Ashraf added one more in the 62nd minute to double the lead. Aryan Banerjee found back of the net in the 80th min for a comfortable win. Earlier in the day, Chandrapur, Raigad and Mumbai recorded wins in their respective matches. Chandrapur defeated Amravati 3-1. For the winners, Aniket Jengate (33rd), Tausif Khan (51st) and Abhishek Doifode (57th) found the target while Amravati’s Nayan Kanojoya (68th) reduced the margin of loss. At SECR ground, Raigad came back twice in the match to pip Aurangabad 3-2. For Raigad, Sujay Lohar (8th), Puroshottam Jayraj (66th) and Yashwant Kakde (Own Goal, 59th) scored while Aurangabad’s Fardeen Khan (6th) and Meraj Khan (50th) had put the side ahead on two occasions. In third match, Mumbai beat Pune 2-0. Mohamamad Arafat Ansari (37th, 40th) scored both the goals.
