Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, in his addressing during the budget meeting said the budget will help in developing Jabalpur into a modern Metropolis. He highlighted that in the past two and a half years, development works worth Rs 1200 crore have been completed and projects worth Rs 3000 crore are planned for the next two and a half years. The Mayor also informed that Rs 479 crore has been spent on building roads, drains and sewer systems. Likewise, major investments have been made under various cleanliness initiatives. In concluding speech at budget session, Mayor emphasised commitment to making Jabalpur a developed, clean and well-organised city. He said he and his team are working tirelessly with a clear action plan to achieve this goal. The Mayor congratulated JMC Chairman Rikunj Vij, all Mayor-in-Council members and corporators for their support in passing the budget. Although, the press release issued by JMC states that the budget was passed unanimously, but Opposition Congress claimed that they were not present in the House and the budget got passed on the basis of the majority by the ruling members. The opposition walked out of the House.
