IN a shootout in Zingabai Takli, a person was shot dead while another was left battling serious injuries. The Thursday night incident shook the otherwise peaceful commercial area in Mankapur Police Station limits. Fahim Khan died on spot and Mohd Sultan was injured. The assailants - Dheeraj Ghodmare, Rajendra Makram, Bhushan Dongre and Chandu Dongre; cornered Fahim to ask him about something and immediatelyopened fire, killing him on the spot. Mohd Sultan, who was also nearby, was hit by the random shooting by the accused persons.

 

The incident occurred near Govind Celebrations on Godhni Road. The firing took place between 10.30 pm to 11 pm. Meanwhile acting swiftly, team of Mankapur police station rushed to the spot after it got tip off about the firing incident. Of the three accused, two were caught immediately while search for the third one is still on. The incident is being seen as fallout of gang rivalry and area domination.

 

The senior police officers visited the crime spot and inspected the sight. The injured person was shifted to Mayo Hospital for treatment. Sleuths of Crime Branch have launched hunt to track down the assailant. Meanwhile huge mob gathered outside Mayo Hospital on learning about the shoot-out adding to tension of city police machinery. Staff from Tehsil, Pachpaoli and Ganeshpeth police stations were dispatched to take stock and keep the crowd at bay.
