Prima facie looks like a case of poaching as the carcass was sans head and limbs

A carcass of a tiger was found in Compartment No 456, Pohra Beat of Weltur Round in Kuhi Forest Range on Friday evening. Some farm labourers noticed an animal bone lying near a bush and when they searched the area they saw some more bones. When they dug up the area they found a carcass which was looking like a tiger.
The labourers immediately informed the Forest Department. After getting information, a team rushed to the spot and conducted the panchanama as per the SOP of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
Whereas the post-mortem and last rites were carried out on Saturday morning. As per the initial reports, it is looking like a case of poaching as the carcass has no head and limbs. Meanwhile, further probe is on under supervision of Shweta Rathod, Assistant Manager, Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM).
During the post-mortem and last rites of the carcass, Nandkishor Kale, Representative, NTCA and Assistant Inspector General of Forests (AIGF), NTCA; Rohit Karu, Representative, Chief Wildlife Warden; Udhamsingh Yadav, Honorary Wildlife Warden; Dr Sujit Kolanghat, Veterinarian, Gorewada Rescue Centre; Lapik Khan, Livestock Development Officer, Mandhal; Uttam Sawant; Ajinkya Ghatekar; Shweta Rathod; Pravin Khande; Sangharsh Walondre; and others from FDCM were present.
