THE Nagpur Police Commissionerate has emerged as the fastest in Maharashtra when it comes to responding to emergency situations. While it is often portrayed in movies and public opinion that the police arrive only after an incident is over, Nagpur Police are setting a new example with an impressive average response time of just 5.5 minutes which is quicker than the State average of 9.5 minutes across other commissionerates. A review conducted at the Police Commissioner’s Office revealed how different police stations across Nagpur are performing in terms of emergency response. The data showed that Pardi Police Station leads the city with the fastest average response time of just 2.13 minutes. It is followed by Dhantoli Police Station at 2.57 minutes and Hudkeshwar at 3.11 minutes.

Other stations like Bajaj Nagar (3.39 minutes), Pachpaoli (3.53 minutes) and New Kamptee (3.57 minutes) are also performing exceptionally well. However, a few stations such as Kapil Nagar, with an average response time of 7.17 minutes and Sadar at 7.15 minutes, still have room for improvement. Zone-wise data indicates that MIDC police in Zone 1 take about 5.17 minutes to reach an incident site, while Pratap Nagar takes 5.39 minutes and Sonegaon about 6.48 minutes. In Zone 2, Sitabuldi responds in 6.14 minutes, Ambazari in 5.24 minutes and Gittikhadan in 3.53 minutes. Zone 3 sees police stations like Mankapur averaging 5.54 minutes and Ganeshpeth at 5.08 minutes. Rural areas such as Wadi and Old Kamptee also perform efficiently, with response times of 4.41 and 5.54 minutes respectively. The Commissionerate’s strong focus on rapid response is supported by continuous monitoring and  regular performance reviews. Police station limits in some areas arejust two to three kilometres which allows quicker arrival, but eveninwiderjurisdictions, the police are optimising deployment strategies to cut down delays. Nagpur Police’s performance in emergency response not only sets a new standard for other cities but also builds publicconfidencein the force, said a police official.
