Countries like Turkey and Azerbaijan are imposing heavy penalty on Indian travel agents and tours operators that are cancelling advance bookings 
 
Travel agents and tour operators in the city are boycotting countries like Turkey, Azerbaijan and Pakistan to express their unwavering solidarity towards our motherland India. This move is in retaliation of the recent attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Travel agents in the city are refusing to promote and sale of tourism to hostile regimes like Turkey, Azerbaijan and Pakistan that promote terrorism. City-based travel agents and travel associations are discouraging tourists from going to these countries.
 
“These countries thrive on Indian tourism, and it is unacceptable for Indian travellers to fund destinations that do not respect India’s security concerns,” said a leading travel agent on the condition of anonymity. Sources in the travel industry said, “The security of our citizens is also at risk when they travel to these countries. No Indian tourist should be sent to a country that disrespects our soldiers, our citizens, or our sovereignty.” These countries thrive on Indian tourism and it is unacceptable for Indian travellers to fund destinations that do not respect our country’s security concerns. Apart from this, countries like Turkey and Azerbaijan are imposing heavy penalty on Indian travel agents and tours operators that are cancelling advance bookings. Some of the national level travel associations have urged the Indian Government to issue a strong travel advisory against these countries that support terrorism. Another source said that the Indian tourists are cancelling their tours to these countries and are not complaining of the penalties imposed on them for cancellation of their tickets.
