NAGPUR’S Warankar has been named as South Asian Regional Head Director of the Asian Arm Wrestling Federation.
In the annual AGM of the Asian Arm Wrestling Federation that was held during the 23rd Asia Arm Wrestling and 22nd Para Arm Wrestling Championships in New Delhi, Dr Warankar, Working President of People’s Arm Wrestling Federation India, was unanimously elected to the post. Representatives from 23 countries were present in the meeting.
The selection has been made keeping in mind Dr Warankar’s contribution to arm wrestling and his tireless efforts for the development of this sport. He is the first Indian to be elected to this post. He is also League Commissioner of Pro Panja League.
He is office bearer in many state, national and international sports organisations.
Warankar credits Bollywood actress and People’s Arm Wrestling Federation India President Preeti Jhangiani, Pro Panja League founder Parveen Dabas, Maharashtra Arm Wrestling Association’s Working President Pramod Walmandre, Vice-President Kishor Bagde, senior sports organiser Hemant Dongaonkar, Baba Daware and all his colleagues for this success. Warankar was congratulated by Anand Daware, Laxmikant Meshram, Chandrashekhar Dhabale, Sandeep Mohanto and Saurabh Rangari.
Meanwhile, Nagpur players finished in top ten in the championships. Siddhesh Warankar, participating in Sub-Junior (45 kg) category missed the podium by a whisker as he finished fourth in Right Hand and 4th place in Left Hand (50 kg). Ammol Walke also secured fourth spot in the Para Standing Men in Left Hand (70kg) group and finished at 6th place in Right Hand.
