“THE work of veteran sports guide Bhau Kane will always be an inspiration for new and young coaches,” said MLA Praveen Datke. Datke was speaking during the Bhau Kane Memorial Best Coach Award ceremony which was organised by Nav-Maharashtra Krida Mandal and Chaitanya Sports Yoga and Cultural Foundation at Shikshak Sahakari Bank Hall, Gandhisagar in Mahal. Basketball coach Arvind Garud was honoured as the best coach while Gajanan Thakre was declared as the best athletics coach. Datke further said, Bhau Kane was not only the best coach who developed players, he was also a great teacher. I believe that the new generation will continue his legacy. Psychiatrist Dr Shailesh Pangaokar, senior journalist Sunil Chawke, Nav-Maharashtra Krida Mandal President Dhananjay Kane, Secretary Prashant Jagtap, Chaitanya Sports and Cultural President Charulata Naigaokar-Behere were also present. Dr Pangaokar said Bhau was ahead of his time.

 

He used to use sports psychology effectively. I was able to learn a lot about sports psychology from him. Chawke reminisced expressed his belief that his work would be an inspiration to budding coaches. Dhananjay Kane expressed his views on the occasion while Charulata Naigaonkar-Behere made introductory remark. Palash Joshi introduced Gajanan Thakre and Mrinalini Bhagat introduced Arvind Garud. Devyani Joshi also expressed her views on Garud. A souvenir on Bhau Kane was also released on the occasion. Naresh Shelke conducted the programme while Jitendra Ghordadekar proposed a vote of thanks.
