IN a suspected case of arson, miscreants pelted stones at Ahmedabad-Howrah Superfast Express on Saturday evening. The incident occurred between Kalamna and Kamptee stations. Travellers said, stones were hurled at two air conditioned bogies of Howrah-bound train. Window pane of B-2 bogie got damaged due to the impact of the stone, while the window of other coach had minor cracks. None of the passengers inside the affected coaches were injured. Soon after the incident, the travellers informed the TTE who relayed the information to Control Room, which, in turn, directed Railway Protection Force (RPF) team to the spot.

The train was attended to at Kamptee Railway Station where the RPF team inspected the bogie in which a hole could be seen. Technicians later covered the hole on the window by affixing tape. The Railway officials did not confirm about any act of deliberate attack on the train. They felt that many a times, in the aftermath of laying of new ballast, it tends to hurl in air due to impact of train and this seems to be the case with Ahmedabad-Howrah Express.
