Trials for Under-20
NAGPUR district’s Ayesha Naseem and Sanyogita Misal excelled on opening day of the two-day selection trials to select Maharashtra state team for national championships to be held under the auspices of the Athletics Federation of India.
The event is being organised on synthetic track of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University. Ayesha, Ummiraj Academy, Kamptee proved her superiority with the best throw of 31.36 metres in the girls’ discus throw event. She practices under Amit Thakur. Ayesha had won the gold medal by throwing 31m in this year’s Maharashtra State Inter-University Sports Festival.
Sanyogita of Nagpur had to settle for second place in the 100m hurdles race.
Earlier, the competition was inaugurated by international runner Prajakta Godbole. On this occasion, Maharashtra State Association’s Rakesh Save was present as the chief guest. District Association President Gurudev Nagrale, Shekhar Suryawanshi, Umesh Naidu, Dr Vibekanand Singh, Ravindra Tong, Jitendra Ghordadekar, Ramchandra Vani, Archana Kottewar, Ganesh Vani and Organising Committee Secretary Dr Sharad Suryawanshi were present.

Men’s 100m: Soham Parshuram Mokal 10.87, Rudra Sachin Shinde 10.89, Kshitij Sunil Changire 10.95. Women’s 100m: Isha Nishikant Ramteke 12.32, Divyangi Krushn Lande 12.43; Anshu Sharma 12.89. Men’s Long Jump: Bhushan Shamrao Shinde 6.78m; Dhairyashil Utt Dhere 6.62m; Nitin Madanraoj Dorkhande 6.41m. Men’s 5000m: Manish Sanjay Meshram 14:51.47; Aniket Hariba Deshmukh 14:58.85; Harshad Balvant Kadam 15:12.17.
