Renowned actor and comedian Manoj Joshi asserted the timeless relevance of Chanakya Niti, stating that its principles held true in the past, remain significant today, and will continue to be so in the future. He made these remarks during a Meet the Press program held at Raipur Press Club on Sunday. Joshi, a Padma Shri and National Film Award recipient was in Raipur to participate in the stage play ‘Paying Guest,’ organized by Sanskar Bharati Chhattisgarh at Rang Mandir. Born on December 14, 1965, in Himmatnagar, Gujarat, Joshi credited his early exposure to acting, singing, drama, and Vedas-Puranas to his father, a well-known ‘Kirtankar.’
 
He revealed his decision to pursue acting was made as early as the 7th grade. After graduating from Sir JJ School of Arts, Joshi embarked on his career in theatre, showcasing his talent in numerous Marathi, Gujarati, and Hindi plays. His television journey includes notable serials such as Chanakya, Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, Sangdil, and Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saheli. He marked his entry into Hindi cinema with the 1999 film ‘Sarfarosh’ and has since acted in over 70 films, including popular titles like Hungama, Hulchul, Bhagam-Bhag, Chup-Chup Ke, Bhool-Bhulaiyaa, and Billu. Joshi acknowledged director Priyadarshan as his “Godfather” in the film industry, highlighting his comedic roles in many of his films.
 
He emphasized the challenging nature of comedy, stating that true comedic talent stems from an understanding of life’s deepest sorrows. Joshi described theatre as “worship” that demands dedication. He expressed his appreciation for the talent of theatre artists in Chhattisgarh. Notably, he cited ‘Chanakya’ as his favorite play. Joshi commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Operation ‘Sindoor.’
