Barat wins rapid chess title

 

 

 

KAUSTAV Barat clinch the Nagpur District 105th Weekend Open Rapid Chess title with seven wins in the tournament. The tournament was organised by Nagpur District Chess Association in tandem with Dhanwate National College at NDCA Hall, Sports Complex, Dhanwate National College, Congress Nagar. In all 83 players including 37 ELO rated players of various ages participated in this tournament. Total eight rounds were played. Total cash prizes of Rs 6,500 were distributed among top 10 players of the tournament.

 

Barat collected seven points from eight rounds and recorded six wins and a loss to emerge clear winner. In the last and final round, top seed Barat defeated Aditya Ukey with whites pieces. Suhan Deshpande, who defeated Barat in the fifth round, finished second with 6.5 points while Uikey took third spot (6.5). The prizes were distributed by SN Parkhi, Treasurer, NDCA. KK Barat, Secretary, NDCA, Dipak Patrikar, IA Pravin Pantawane Chief Arbiter and Dinesh Kokate, assistant arbiter were also present on the occasion.
