A JOINT sports camp organised by District Sports Office and District Sports Council concluded at the Divisional Sports Complex in Mankapur recently.
Main aim of the 15-day multisport camp was to develop overall personality of students in the age group of ten to nineteen. In the camp, the participants had many choice of picking a sport for learning and bettering their skills.
As many as 450 boys and girls of various age groups took part in different sports like softball, boxing, table tennis, gymnastics, skating, volleyball, handball, fencing, mallakhamb, ropeskipping and kho-kho at various venues across the city in morning and evening sessions.
Shekhar Patil, Deputy Director, Sports and Youth Services, Nagpur Division, presided over the closing ceremony. Other guests on the occasion were Inderjit Singh Randhawa, Pankaj Kothari, Upendra Varma and Mohd Shoeb.
Speaking on the occasion DSO Pallavi Dhatrak urged the participants to try their hands on new sports and to exercise regularly to keep themselves fit.
Best players in the camp were rewarded with prizes and certificates while the coaches were also honoured. Gymnastic coach Nishant Patil conducted the proceedings while Sports Officer Maya Duble proposed a vote of thanks. Officers and employees of both the departments worked hard to make the event a huge success.
