Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the newly redeveloped Itwari railway station on Thursday at 9.30 am through video conference.
The station has been renamed Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Itwari Junction.
Along with this, he will also inaugurate four other upgraded stations in the South East Central Railway (SECR) Nagpur division – Daswani, Dongargarh, Chanda Fort, and Amgaon.
These changes are part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a Central Government project to improve railway stations across India. In total, 103 stations will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister on the same day.
The upgraded Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Itwari Junction now offers many modern facilities. The redevelopment cost is Rs 12.39 crore.
Earlier, the station faced
problems like traffic jams and poor parking.
Now, it has better entry and exit points, wider roads, space for two-wheeler parking, and a traffic control system.
The station also includes modern ticket counters, comfortable waiting rooms, special facilities for differently-abled people, a Jan Aushadhi medical store, and a rail coach restaurant.
The building now features a mix of traditional and modern design. Inside, the station displays local Gond art, thread paintings, and themes from Nagpur’s handloom industry. Beautification work includes decorations like mosaic art of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, paintings of Nagpur oranges, and Gond-style artwork.
The new toilet complex, inspired by Bhubaneswar’s design, aims to offer a cleaner and more comfortable experience for passengers.
