Taking serious cognisance of the news reports published in ‘The Hitavada’ Cityline regarding non-functioning of Sitabuldi parking plaza and continuance of hawkers’ menace on Sitabuldi main road, the civic administration swung into action and ensured the parking plaza gets functional on Wednesday. The officials of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and police reached Sitabuldi to curb the menace of hawkers. Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari instructed the officers to keep the premises of Sitabuldi parking plaza encroachment-free. Dr Abhijit Chaudhari inspected the multi-level car and two-wheeler parking facility created by Nagpur Smart City at Sitabuldi on Wednesday.
 
He directed the Enforcement Department to keep the road and area in front of the car parking facility encroachment-free. Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Archit Chandak, Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Vasumana Pant and Additional Commissioner Ajay Charthankar were present on the occasion. The Commissioner directed to put up guide boards for the convenience of the citizens.
 
The Municipal Commissioner appealed to the citizens coming to Sitabuldi market to use this facility. Along with the anti-encroachment operation on Sitabuldi main road, the Nagpur Police and Nagpur Municipal Corporation have removed the encroachments in front of the supermarket. Nagpur Smart City has provided multi-level car parking facilities for the citizens coming to Sitabuldi and citizens were facing difficulty in parking due to encroachment by hawkers. Smart City has arranged parking for 240 two-wheelers and 22 four-wheelers in the mechanised car parking. An operator has also been appointed for the state-of-the-art car parking.
 
The Municipal Commissioner directed the officers of Smart City to utilise this system to its full potential. Dr Chaudhari also ordered the officers of the Anti-Encroachment Unit to ensure that there is no further encroachment in this area. Currently, no fee is charged for parking at the facility. He was accompanied by Assistant municipal Commissioner of Dharampeth Zone Harish Raut, Snehlata Kumbhar, Executive Engineer Rajesh Dufare, Executive Engineer Ravindra Bundhade, Rahul Deshmukh, Enforcement Superintendent Sanjay Kamble, Bhaskar Malve, Moin Hassan, Assistant Police Inspector Jadhav and other officials.
