District Unified Hockey Association in association with Anjani Hockey Club has organised a summer hockey camp for budding hockey players of the city.
The camp is being held at Vidarbha Women’s Hockey Association’s Tiger Gap ground in Sadar.
The camp was inaugurated by NDUHA President Vinod Trivedi.
The camp is being held in morning and evening sessions.
In his inaugural speech Trivedi guided the players and said to learn the basics of the game. He also asked players to concentrate while learning the tricks and trades of the game.
NDUHA Joint Secretary Pramod Jain asked the budding players not to waste time on mobile and gadgets and instead utilise it in learning how to hockey and improve their knowledge about the game and its rules.
He also asked the players to give equal importance to their studies as well. During the camp, coaching will be imparted in dribbling, tackling, hitting, pushing, scooping and stopping the ball. Former national level players will be imparting coaching to the players. Special attention will also be given on goalkeepers. The players will also be taught importance of fitness and various fitness drills will also be performed during warm-up and cooling down sessions.
The inaugural function was attended by Mamta Trivedi, Treasurer, NDUHA, Kanhaiyya Fulsunge, member, Kishor Jichkar, Director, Anjani Hockey Club, national umpire Ravi Francis, Miller Francis, Riyazuddin Kazi, Sunil Madne, Secretary, Vidarbha Women’s Hockey Association, Trunali Dhamankar, Parag Bankar, Sanjay Lokhande, former Vidarbha player Satish Fulsunge, Shahnawaz Khan and others.
The inaugural programme was compered by Jain while Kanhaiyya Fulsunge proposed a vote of thanks.
