The ongoing protest by employees of Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) over delayed promotions and the demand for notional seniority continues to intensify, on Friday. Organised by the OFK Labour Union, the demonstration entered its third day today, drawing large crowds despite the scorching heat, including a significant number of women employees who actively participated in the protest. The strong turnout reflects growing discontent among staff, especially toward the Field Unit authorities, whom employees hold responsible for the delay. The movement gained further momentum today with the SC/ST Employees Union extending full support and joining the demonstration with their members. Meanwhile, AIDEF’s National General Secretary has issued a stern letter to the Director of Ordnance (Coordination & Services), Kolkata, criticising the inaction of the DDG/Field Unit Jabalpur.

The letter highlighted that during the JCM III meeting, a decision had already been made to grant eligible employees notional seniority from the due date. Furthermore, a directive letter had been sent to the DDG/Field Unit in March. Despite this, no order was implemented at the Jabalpur unit, reflecting what the union described as ‘gross negligence’ towards the employees’ rights. AIDEF National President Comrade S N Pathak also expressed strong displeasure, stating that the federation would raise this issue formally and boycott the next JCM III meeting in protest against the Field Unit’s inaction. Union leaders have affirmed their determination that they will continue this agitation until justice is served and our demands are met.
