Weather patterns in Madhya Pradesh have turned volatile, with intimidating storms and heavy rainfall occurring evenings for the past two to three days. This climatic shift, just before the onset of Nautapa (a nine-day period of intense heat), is surprising. This year, Nautapa is set to begin on May 25 and continue until June 2. However, according to the Meteorological Department, this Nautapa will not be as scorching as usual and will bring a feeling of coolness. From Saturday, the rain system in Madhya Pradesh is expected to strengthen, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms to all districts of the state. On Thursday night, several cities in Madhya Pradesh experienced heavy thunderstorms accompanied by rain. In Bhopal, the weather suddenly changed on Thursday night, with heavy rain lasting for about an hour late at night. During this period, more than a dozen tree fall incidents were reported to the municipal corporation’s call center. Additionally, power outages were reported in 20 to 25 colonies during the rain. Due to the hour-long heavy downpour, reports of water-logging emerged from low-lying areas of the city. Meteorologists stated that winds blew at a speed of about 40 to 60 kilometres per hour along with the rain last night. Rain expected across Madhya Pradesh from today:

On Friday, the northern part of Madhya Pradesh experienced a heatwave, while the southern parts saw rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. However, from Sunday, the weather system in Madhya Pradesh will strengthen and expand across the entire State. Rainfall is expected to increase further from May 25 and 26. It is noteworthy that Nautapa will also begin on May 25. “Currently, a cyclonic circulation is active in the upper part of Punjab and its surrounding areas,” a meteorologist explained. “Along with this, a cyclonic circulation is also advancing in south-eastern Uttar Pradesh and north-eastern Madhya Pradesh. A trough connecting these two cyclonic circulations extends from southern Haryana, through Uttar Pradesh, to Madhya Pradesh. Furthermore, a low-pressure area formed in the Arabian Sea will convert into a depression from Saturday and move northwards”. Monsoon may arrive before June 15th: Meteorologists stated that “a new low-pressure area is forming in the Bay of Bengal from May 27. This will intensify pre-monsoon activities.

The Meteorological Department has predicted the monsoon to reach Kerala by May 24-25. However, if the current conditions persist, the monsoon could arrive in Madhya Pradesh even before June 15”.
