A devastating accident claimed the lives of three young men and left another critically injured when their car collided with a tree on the Indore-Bhopal Highway late Thursday night. The incident, reported under the Khajuri Sadak Police Station jurisdiction, was attributed to excessive speeding, according to preliminary police findings. The impact was so severe that the car’s airbags deployed, and the vehicle split into two parts due to a shattered chassis. The deceased were identified as Preet Ahuja (22), Vishal Dabi (25) and Pankaj Sisodia (25), all residents of Bairagarh. Their friend, Rahul Kandare, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The accident occurred near Chirau Hospital, with the Hyundai Venue car registered in the name of Kamlesh Ahuja, Preet’s brother. Family members revealed that the group had gone to a dhaba in Sehore for dinner. Preet, who was driving, was accompanied by Vishal in the front seat, while Rahul and Pankaj were in the back seat.

Relatives noted that Preet had taken the car without permission. Police officials estimated the car’s speed was 100-120 kmph, which caused Preet to lose control over the steering, leading the vehicle to first strike a kiosk before crashing into a tree. The mangled wreckage trapped Preet and Vishal under the dashboard, requiring cutters to extricate their bodies. Preet, a class 12 dropout, ran a garment shop with assistance from Vishal, and the trio were school friends. Khajuri Sadak Police Station In-charge Neeraj Verma confirmed that overspeeding was the primary cause of the accident. Authorities are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to determine the precise sequence of events. Local residents alleged that police and ambulance services arrived late despite prompt notification of the crash, raising concerns about response time.
