Arjun, alias Lalu Yadav

A 23-year-old man with a criminal history was killed and his body was discovered in a dam approximately 30 kilometres from Bhopal, police said. The victim, Arjun, also known as Lalu Yadav, went missing on the night of May 19. His family staged a protest outside Kamla Nagar Police Station on Friday morning after the body was recovered, accusing the police of failing to act on leads they provided about the suspect.
Initial investigations suggest that the murder stemmed from a dispute involving a woman. The prime suspect, her brother, along with his accomplices, allegedly dumped Arjun’s body in a dam to conceal evidence, police said.
Arjun, a resident of Shabri Nagar, vanished on May 19. His family claimed they filed a missing person report at Kamla Nagar Police Station, but no significant action was taken.
Arjun’s sister, Mamta, alleged that Shubham Nageshwar lured Arjun to his Hukka Lounge that night. A viral CCTV clip circulating on social media shows Arjun entering the lounge around 12:19 am on May 19, but he was not seen leaving. Hours later, Shubham and four associates were captured on camera exiting with a large carton.
Mamta claimed they killed Arjun, hid his body in the carton, and transported it to Bilkisganj, where it was thrown into a dam. She further alleged that Shubham wore Arjun’s shirt and shoes to impersonate him and mislead authorities. The family stated that Shubham opposed his sister Raksha’s relationship with Arjun, orchestrating the murder. Assistant Commissioner of Police Chandrashekhar Pandey confirmed that the body, found in a dam in Sehore’s Bilkisganj, was identified as Arjun Yadav, reported missing on May 21. Several suspects have been detained and are being interrogated, he added.
