Police searched the homes of Deputy Director of Education (DDDE) Chintaman Vanjari in Surve Nagar in Nagpur and Yavatmal on Sunday in connection with the fake Shalarth ID scam (teachers’ recruitment scam). Vanjari was recently arrested after being linked to the scam involving fake teachers IDs and illegal salary payments. Police sources say several important documents were seized during the search. The Shalarth scam first came to light with the arrest of DDE Ulhas Narad. Following him, Suraj Naik, Bharat Dhawale and Dudhalkhar from the Deputy Director’s office were also arrested. After Narad’s suspension, Chintaman Vanjari was appointed DDE. Vanjari was earlier the Primary Education Officer in Nagpur Zilla Parishad and briefly managed the Secondary Education Department. Two years ago, he was promoted as the Secretary of the Divisional Education Board.

Investigations revealed that fake appointment proposals were created in the primary education department which led to the generation of 281 bogus Shalarth Ids and appointment of teachers during Vanjari’s tenure. These IDs were used to draw salaries illegally. Vanjari is in police custody until May 29. On Sunday, police teams searched his residences in Nagpur and Yavatmal and found multiple suspicious documents and seized voluminours documents. Meanwhile, Vaishali Jamdar, former DDE, who was arrested on Friday, have revealed name of other employees. The police have noted the names of the employees and started probe.
