Dr Sunil Gupta was awarded the prestigious NCCD Oration at the 8th National Congress on Clinical Diabetes (NCCD) held in Kolkata, recently.
Dr Gupta delivered address on ‘Insulin Initiation and Titration in Hyperglycemia in Pregnancy (HIP): Indian Perspectives,’ offering critical insights tailored to the unique clinical challenges faced in India. Dr Sunil Gupta has already delivered 24 national orations at different academic platforms, and this was his 25th oration award.
He has got his pioneering nationwide acclaimed work in insulin therapy in pregnancy diabetes.”
Dr Gupta dedicated his oration awards to Dr V Seshai, Chennai and Dr Samar Banerjee, Kolkata. His session was chaired by Dr Niladri Sarkar and Dr Asish Basu, who emphasised the importance of advancing research and clinical practices in maternal diabetes management.
Dr Gupta’s oration was particularly timely, as India continues to grapple with rising rates of gestational diabetes and the complex dynamics of insulin management in diverse and resource-variable settings.
The audience, comprising endocrinologists, diabetologists, obstetricians, and primary care physicians, responded with resounding appreciation.
Dr Gupta's oration is expected to influence national guidelines and inspire further studies focused on improving maternal and fetal outcomes in HIP
cases.
