The luminaries who have done unparalleled work in various fields were honoured with the country’s highest civilian award, the ‘Padma Awards’, by President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday. Noted Homoeopath from city Dr Vilas Dangre was honoured with Padma Shri award. The second and final phase of the Padma Awards were presented by the President on Tuesday at a ceremony organised at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, other Union ministers and senior officials of the Central Government were present at the event. Six dignitaries from the State were awarded.
 
Former Chief Minister of the State and former Lok Sabha Speaker Dr Manohar Joshi was conferred with the ‘Padma Bhushan Award’ (posthumously) for his contribution to the public sector, while Ashok Saraf, Achyut Palav, Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande were conferred the ‘Padma Bhushan Award’ for his invaluable contribution to the field of arts and Subhash Sharma for his outstanding achievements in the field of agriculture and Dr Vilas Dangre was honoured with the Padma Shri award by the President. Dr Vilas Dangre was awarded Padma Shri for his outstanding work in the field of medicine. He has made an invaluable contribution to the healthcare of the needy through homeopathy. He is a known homeopathic doctor due to his pulse-testing skills.
 
Especially in 2014, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s voice was disturbed during a rally at Kasturchand Park in Nagpur, his voice was quickly restored due to the homeopathic treatment provided by Dr Dangre. His clinic in Nagpur has become a haven for needy patients and he has treated more than one lakh patients so far. He has been visually impaired for 10 years. However, despite this, he continues to provide his invaluable service to patients.
