City Police brought back Sunita Jamgade (43) to Nagpur late Wednesday night after she had allegedly crossed over to Pakistan earlier this month through the Line of Control (LoC) near Hunderman village in Kargil.
Upon arrival, she was taken to a police station and was formally arrested. Throughout the night, police officials were engaged in the legal procedure of producing her before the special JMFC court to obtain her police custody remand (PCR).
A senior police official stated that Sunita’s arrest was based on a Zero FIR initially filed in Amritsar and later transferred to Kapil Nagar Police Station. Authorities intend to interrogate her regarding her connections with individuals residing in Pakistan, with whom she had reportedly been in contact for several months.
Investigators are particularly interested in
finding out what kind of information she may have shared with Pakistanis, including individuals identified as Julfekar and Pastor.
According to officials, a four-member team from Nagpur Police had taken custody of Jamgade from Amritsar Police. The team travelled with her from Amritsar to Delhi by train on Tuesday night and then continued to Nagpur, arriving late Wednesday night.
Jamgade, a resident of Sant Kabir Nagar under the jurisdiction of Kapil Nagar Police Station, was reported missing on May 14. She had allegedly left behind her 12-year-old son before crossing the LoC in Kargil. Pakistani forces apprehended her and held her in custody until she was officially handed over to Indian authorities at the Wagah border on Saturday.
