BHILAI,

As part of the ongoing ‘Musafiri Policing’ initiative aimed at identifying illegal immigrants and monitoring transient populations, Durg Police launched coordinated early morning search operations across Bhilai Nagar, Chhawani, and Patan subdivisions. At the break of dawn on Wednesday, police teams led by respective City Superintendents of Police (CSPs) initiated simultaneous raids starting at 5 AM. These operations focused on slum areas and industrial zones suspected of harboring undocumented individuals, particularly those believed to have entered the country from Pakistan and Bangladesh. More than 474 people were screened during the operation. Fingerprints of 103 individuals were taken for identity verification and inclusion in a secure database.

The raids were targeted sawmills, crusher units, small-scale factories, and densely populated neighborhoods. Areas covered included Transport Nagar, Hathkhoj, and Puraina (Chhawani Subdivision); Contractor Colony, Panch Rasta, and Purani Basti (Bhilai Nagar Subdivision); and the villages of Utai, Dumrideeh, and Mahkakala (Patan Subdivision). Police officials checked identification documents such as Aadhaar cards and ration cards and cross-verified individuals’ claimed backgrounds. Fingerprint scanning was performed on individuals with questionable or incomplete documentation. ASP Padmashri Singh Tanwar told the media that the crackdown is a key component of a wider effort to detect illegal settlements and ensure community safety. Additional police personnel were deployed across subdivisions to support the three-hour-long operation. The police have urged all residents to maintain proper documentation and cooperate fully with verification procedures to avoid legal consequences.
