NEUROTIC

EVEN as prominent leaders in the Opposition camp -- such as Mr. Shashi Tharoor or Mrs. Supriya Sule or Mr. Anand Sharma or Mr. Manish Tewari, for example -- are leading India’s campaign to explain to the world the logic and logistics of Operation Sindoor, some of their own colleagues are engaged in a stupid attempt to malign the nation’s response not just to Pahalgam terror attack but also to the overall issue of terrorism as a tool of State Policy adopted by Pakistan. Nothing can be more unfortunate than this. For, their shallow and thoughtless tirade is only showing them in bad and sick colours to the nation and the world. The common people now know that some people in the Opposition camp are saddled with neurotic attitude that blocks their clear view of the factual situation. In the past ten-plus years, the Opposition camp has time and again realised the fallacy of its approach and stance on many issues of national importance. Despite that, they appear hell bent upon opposing whatever the Narendra Modi Government does or says. This reality has come out in the open in stark colours particularly in the wake of Operation Sindoor and India’s subsequent diplomatic campaign with all-party delegations visiting several countries to explain the truth to the people around the world.

When Congress leaders such as Mr. Tharoor, Mr. Anand Sharma and Mr. Manish Tewari are leading the Indian charge, the Congress party’s leadership as well as its spokespersons back home are heaping abusive language on the Government and Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. They are all eager to establish that Operation Sindoor was a gross failure and that the Government (by whatever logic) was responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack. To logical questions from the media, these people have no convincing answers. Yet, they continue heaping criticism on the Government -- not realising in the process that they are themselves becoming victims of a silent public ire that would cost them dearly in the near future.

They appear least bothered about those consequences. There is no doubt that democracy is a centre-stage of criss-cross ideas. It welcomes debate and even disagreement among various stake-holders because multi-dimensional discourse is often known to produce something credit-worthy in the long run. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be happening in India -- since the Opposition is proving to be an obstinate lot refusing to think logically on issues of national importance. Like hard-headed mules, many leaders in the Opposition camps are insisting upon pushing a complete illogical narrative that even street urchins would reject. Unfortunately, the Opposition does not seem bothered about that kind of public rating for their stance and approach -- so much so that many observers are beginning now to suspect that the Opposition is least bothered about dethroning Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi (since it is actually supporting Mr. Modi by its perverse logic).

While the world appreciates India’s stance on the issue of terror, some sick-heads in the Opposition camp appear happy that they are able to heap abuses on the Government -- no matter how illogical and even stupid -- protected by democracy. They refuse to acknowledge that democracy is a system that welcomes honest disagreement on critical issues -- which is why they continue with their mule-like illogic and obstinacy. This whole scenario is truly unfortunate, to say the least, though some leaders in the Opposition camp do not even ponder over their own shallowness. We are tempted to describe this approach as an anathema to democracy and pitch for a method and manner of bringing to book such elements that tend to take for granted the nation and its collective morality.
