“It is the first time that any Government has applied its mind and emotions to promote the media and entertainment of India at international level. In my 35 years of film career I have not seen any previous Government ever think about us and this Government is doing it for us,” said Aamir Khan during on the day-2 of World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit 2025 (WAVES 2025) at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Aamir made this statement during a panel discussion session named “Studios of the Future: Putting India on World Studio Map”. The event was moderated by Film Critic Mayank Shekhar. Oppenheimer producer Charles Roven was also among the panelists of the session along with Namit Malhotra, Dinesh Vijan, Ajay Bijli and Ritesh Sidhwani.

Acclaiming the efforts of the Modi Government, Aamir Khan said, “The current Government is first who is thinking and even working to make Indian film and entertainment a world leader which never happened earlier.” “This Government is putting efforts to promote the industry on the platform of WAVES 2025. Supporting the industry to make it stand on the world entertainment map is a huge ambition of the Indian government,” said Aamir during the session. Mentioning WAVES 2025, Aamir also added that every film maker of India should take this event as an opportunity to be on the centre stage of the world entertainment which is provided by our Government. “It is the right time that whatever we discuss on this platform will be heard internationally. Even what we will discuss here will be translated into policies.

Therefore, we have to now work to improve the industry with better thinking and decisions,” said Aamir. While talking about Indian theatres, Aamir said, “I have always believed that we have very few theatres for the size of the country and the number of people living in India.” “We have around 10,000 screens, and in the United States of America (USA), which is one-third of our population, they have 40,000 screens and China has 90,000 screens,” he added. Our biggest hits over the years, no matter what language, have had a theatrical footfall of three crore people. That is only 2% of our entire population, he claimed. Hollywood producer Roven, who talked about the viewership, said, “Your business is just so inside India and mine is so much around the world. I make movies and content whether they go on streamers or motion pictures, and it is usually decided before I even start the production. Very rarely, though I make something just like get it made, then I will decide how it will be exhibited.”
