A youth befriended the girl on social media and asked her to visit Kanha Park in Mandla on April 26
In a tragic incident, a minor girl was abducted and gangraped in Mandla district. Garha police have registered a case of abduction and gang-rape against unidentified persons in the crime.
Garha police informed that according to the complainant, a young man from Mandla district befriended the girl on a social media platform around six months ago and later invited her to visit Kanha National Park. The girl, under the pretext of visiting a friend, reportedly travelled to Mandla on April 26.
On her arrival, she was taken to a residence by the young man, where she claims she was kept for three days. During this time, she alleges that she was physically exploited by the youth and one of his associates.
On her return to Jabalpur, the girl informed her mother about her physical abuse.
Her family immediately approached Garha Police Station, where a case was filed under relevant sections of the law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police have launched an investigation and dispatched a team to Mandla to trace the accused. According to the minor’s statement, she was unfamiliar with the area and unable to recall specific routes due to poor visibility during the time of travel. She also reported being threatened against disclosing the incident.
Authorities are working to verify all the details and have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken while further investigation is underway.
