Harshit Nerkar shocked top seed Aarav Thakre to storm into the semi-final Under-17 boys singles in the ongoing Raisoni Foundation’s Yonex-Sunrise GH Raisoni Memorial Nagpur District 1st Selection Badminton Tournament being played at Subhedar Hall. In the quarter-finals, Nerkar got the better of Thakre in two straight games 21-13, 21-17. Nakul Ravishekhar Londhekar had to work out hard to oust Naitik Patel 21-15, 21-17 and Hridaan Singh defeated Mourya Khandelwal 21-12, 21-19.

 

Arnav Palshikar completed the semis line-up with an easy 21-14, 21-12 victory over Ojas Deshmukh. In the girls section, Yukti Shende defeated Rimsha Jamuar 21-12, 21-14 to make it to the last four of the competition. In another quarter-final, Riddhi Tidke defeated Dhriti Mehta 21-16, 21-13 while Harshika Sharma ousted Mugdha Sawarkar 21-17, 21-17 to enter semi-finals. The tournament carries a total prize money of Rs 2,04,000. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Dr Mrunal Naik, Project Director, Raisoni Foundation. Kundatai Vijaykar, President, NDBA, Madhavi Kashikar Hedaoo, Secretary Coaching, NDBA, Gurdeep Singh Arora, Executive Committee Member, Aditya Galande, Chief Referee were also present on the occasion.
