FIFTH seed Pramod Dhamgaye emerged champion in the 11th Kamal Kumar Barat Memorial Nagpur District Veteran (45 year & Above) Chess Championship that concluded at Dhanwate National College on Sunday. Dhamgaye was the clear winner with 5.5 points out of maximum 6 points. Sunil Chelani, with 5 points, was the runner-up. TM Kawadkar, Vijay Jhanwar and Sanjay Bhange all finished with 4.5 points piece and took the third, fourth and fifth places respectively. Seven players ended with four points in their kitty.

 

The prizes were distributed at the hands of Shreyans Kamdar, Vice-President, NDCA. Other guests present were Kaustav Barat, sponsor and grandson of late Kamal Kumar Barat; KK Barat, Secretary, NDCA; SN Parkhi, Treasurer and Chief Arbiter IA Pravin Pantawane. Pantawane was assisted by Deepak Patrikar and Dinesh Kokate. Top Ten: Dhamgaye Pramod (5.5), Sunil Chelani (5), TM Kawadkar, Vijay Jhanwar, Bhange Sanjay (all 4½), Mahajan Sadanand, Anzar Ahmad Khan, Hariramani RN, Kalgaonkar S Ishwar Ramteke (4 each).
