Police have arrested one Shraddha Rajput for allegedly defrauding people of lakhs of rupees under the pretense of arranging foreign trips. The accused, along with a main accomplice who is currently absconding, operated an office named Imam Tours and Travels in Shyam Plaza, Pandri, and primarily targeted senior citizens. The Civil Line Police Station has taken action against Shraddha Rajput under crime number 498/2015, sections 420, 409, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complainant Abhinav Soni had filed a report in 2015 at the Civil Line Police Station. He stated that Qamar Ejaz Ahmed and Shraddha Rajput had established Imam Tours and Travels in Shyam Plaza, in front of Pandri Bus Stand, in 2014. They allegedly collected an advance of Rs 35,20,000 from approximately 20-25 people, promising to arrange foreign tours to Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Goa. However, instead of organising the trips, they absconded, thereby cheating the investors. Based on this complaint, the aforementioned case was registered at the Civil Line Police Station, and an investigation was launched.

A dedicated team from the Civil Line Police Station, led by the Station In-charge, was formed to arrest the absconding accused and locate their whereabouts. Recent intelligence indicated that Shraddha Rajput was hiding in the Gudhiyari area. Acting on this information, the police team apprehended Shraddha Rajput. During questioning, she confessed to her involvement, stating that she worked as an accounts and tele-caller in the fraudulent company, collected money from customers, and admitted to participating in the scheme in exchange for a commission. Shraddha Rajput has been arrested, and further legal proceedings are underway. Efforts to locate and apprehend the main accused, against whom a look-out circular has been issued, are ongoing.

Two arrested for circulating obscene content of women, children online

Police have apprehended two individuals, including a minor boy in conflict with the law, for allegedly circulating objectionable videos and pictures of women and children on social media. The arrests follow cases registered earlier at the Khamtarai police station under the Information Technology (IT) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Acting on data received from the Cyber Team Line in New Delhi regarding individuals involved in sharing objectionable/obscene content of women and children on social media, senior authorities directed action based on this information, as the incidents fell under the jurisdiction of Khamtarai police station. Consequently, two cases were registered at the Khamtarai police station: (1) Crime No. 84/2023, Section 67 B of the IT Act, and (2) Crime No. 558/2023, Section 67 B of the IT Act and Section 10 of the POCSO Act. Investigations were subsequently launched. In the investigation of Crime No. 84/2023 (Section 67 B of the IT Act), information regarding the holder of mobile SIM number 9109044916 led the police to Dashrath Yadav, a resident of Shivanand Nagar, Khamtarai. Upon questioning, Dashrath Yadav revealed that the SIM card had been used by his 16-year-old son, a boy in conflict with the law, since 2022. When questioned about the online activity, the boy confessed to the crime. He admitted that in 2022, he obtained the WiFi password of Monish Janbodhkar, a resident of the same colony, and used this WiFi connection to send objectionable/obscene pictures and videos of women and children on social media platforms. Following the discovery of incriminating evidence, the boy in conflict with the law was presented before the Juvenile Court, Raipur, after completing the necessary legal procedures. In a similar vein, the investigation of Crime No. 558/2023 (Section 67 B of the IT Act and Section 10 of the POCSO Act) led to the identification of Sushant Kole, son of Kartik Chand Kole, aged 45 years, a resident of Shaheed Nagar, Khamtarai. Upon questioning, Sushant Kole confessed that he personally used the SIM card to circulate objectionable/obscene pictures and videos of women and children on social media in 2022. After the discovery of evidence against him, Sushant Kole was duly arrested and sent to judicial remand. The arrested accused are Sushant Kole, son of Kartik Chand Kole, aged 45 years, resident of Shaheed Nagar, Police Station Khamtarai, and a boy in conflict with the law (16 years old), resident of Dharam Kiraya Bhandar, Sector 01 Shivanand Nagar, Police Station Khamtarai Raipur.
