A team of young creators from Raipur, working under the banner of Entangled Studio, has earned international recognition by winning the Gold medal in the Anime Animation category at the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025. Held for the first time in India, the four-day global summit took place in Mumbai and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event drew participation from over 90 countries and witnessed more than ten thousand delegates. With this win, the team has qualified to represent India at an upcoming Anime event in Tokyo, Japan, in 2026.

Their achievement has been appreciated by the Prime Minister and acknowledged by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt of India. Alongside the Gold in Anime Animation, Entangled Studio also secured the Silver medal in the Web Toon category, further testifying to their creative talent. The team comprises Shubhranshu Singh, Shephali Singh, Nihal Dungdung, and Pratham Virani, all aged between 22 and 25 years, with backgrounds in engineering and fashion design. Their creative pursuits have found expression through Anime, a distinctive animation style that originated in Japan, celebrated for its colourful visuals, stylized art, large expressive eyes, and dynamic storytelling that brings emotionally engaging characters to life.

Explaining the selection journey, Shubhranshu Singh shared that the process began in October last year through regional competitions conducted across 11 Indian cities, one of which was Nagpur. The team participated in the Nagpur leg and secured the top position, followed by a national-level event where winners from all 11 cities competed. Emerging victorious again, the Raipur-based team earned a place at WAVES 2025, where they competed against teams from over 20 countries to claim the top honour. Singh noted that anime animation holds immense potential in India and expressed confidence that Indian youth can build successful careers in this emerging creative field. He added that its wide genre range and cross-generational appeal across films, TV, and digital media make anime a promising avenue for the future of Indian animation. The team is now looking forward to the Tokyo event with great enthusiasm, viewing it as an opportunity to showcase India’s animation talent on a global platform.
