In an inspiring story of courage and academic resilience, 16-year-old Ishika Bala from Gondahur village in Koyalibeda block has emerged as the state topper in the Chhattisgarh State Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) Class 10 examinations, the results of which were declared on Wednesday. Defying a battle with blood cancer, Ishika secured an outstanding 99.17 percent marks. Two years ago, Ishika was diagnosed with blood cancer, necessitating regular chemotherapy sessions and extended periods of hospitalization throughout the academic year. The severity of her condition prevented her from appearing for the board exams last year. However, with unwavering support from her parents, school principal, and teachers, Ishika exhibited remarkable determination to appear for the exams this year, achieving a phenomenal score.

Despite the immense physical and emotional strain of her illness, coupled with limited financial resources as her father, Shankar Bala, is a farmer, Ishika remained steadfast in her pursuit of education. She continued her studies by attending classes remotely through her mobile phone, bolstered by the consistent support of the Government Higher Secondary School in Gondahur, particularly Principal Arun Kumar Kirtanya and other dedicated teachers. Her focus and determination paved the way for her exceptional performance in the board examinations. Ishika’s extraordinary achievement transcends mere academic success; it stands as a powerful symbol of mental fortitude. While most students grapple with the typical pressures of examinations, Ishika navigated both the psychological burden of a life-threatening illness and the academic demands of the board exams. Her triumph underscores the profound truth that unwavering willpower can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Ishika humbly credits her success to the unwavering support and encouragement of her father, Shankar Bala, her mother, Iti Bala, her school principal, and her teachers, who consistently motivated her to stay focused on her goals. Her journey serves as a potent inspiration, embodying both perseverance and academic excellence for students across the state and beyond.
