Lakadganj Police, on Wednesday, arrested a student activist on charges of attempting war against the Government of India (GoI). The arrested person is identified as Rejaz M Sheeba Sydeek (26), a resident of Edapally in Kerala, his girlfriend, Isha Kumari, who resides in city was also picked-up by cops. Sydeen has been booked under Section 149 (preparing to wage war against the (Government of India), 192 (Giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 351 (Criminal intimidation) and 353 (Statements conducing to public mischief) of the BNS among other provisions. Sydeek, as per reports, works as a freelance journalist and is affiliated to Democratic Students Association. He was visiting the city to meet a friend on way back to Kerala from Delhi when cops arrested him.
