In view of the nationwide operation involving blackouts, air raid simulations and emergency training, in the backdrop of renewed hostilities with Pakistan due to recent terror attack in Pahalgam (Jammu and Kashmir), city’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport witnessed a mock drill. MIHAN India Limited (MIL) (Airport Operator) and Central Industrial Security Force’s Aviation Security Group (CISF ASG) carried out a joint mock drill evacuating passengers from the Terminal building.
 
The mock drill involved simulated rapid-response action, including their movement to Safe Assembly Areas to safeguard the life of passengers, staff and protect the civil aviation operations at Nagpur airport from any act of unlawful interference during the emergency or contingency situation. During this mock drill, a briefing session was organised for passengers, staff of various stakeholders and responding agencies by M A Abid Ruhi, Senior Airport Director of MIL and Dilip Kumar, Senior Commandant of CISF ASG Nagpur accompanied by Yashwant Saratkar, Chief Security Officer of MIL and Amit Kasatwar, Joint General Manager (Terminal Operations) to educate about the present nationwide security scenario and response action.
 
The action included Do’s and Dont’s, during such emergency and contingency situation such as residents moving to safe assembly areas while blaring sirens, blackout the area by putting off lights, etc. The exercise was called off and normal flight operations resumed thereafter from the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. With a plan that no regular flight operations are hampered, the mock drill was conducted for a short period. After the drill, everybody joined their duties. In various sections, the mock drill was conducted as a part of preparedness of people as well as the staff. On Wednesday, the mock drill was conducted in various cities to make people aware about the precautions to be taken in case an attack takes place. In fact, the Central Government had issued a circular of guidelines for the people so that no casualty should take place just because of lack of awareness.
