IT WAS 11 years ago that Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi uttered, “I, Narendra Damodardas Modi...” from which day India’s political landscape has seen only progress. Under his leadership, marked by his sharp vision, India achieved one milestone after the other. This, thus is a transformative era - an era marked by his acumen, decisiveness, and a deep connect with the grassroots. In the process, he has steadily established the country’s identity, aspirations, and its place in the world. From the moment the world addressed him as Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi has expressed a bold vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) - and every year since 2014, he and his team, have worked meticulously towards shaping this dream into reality, where India has undergone a dramatic transformation - economically, socially, as well as diplomatically - both on the national and international fronts.
Mr. Narendra Modi’s idea of Atmanirbhar Bharat reflected not only confident self-reliance in the people of India, but also faith that they are capable of carving a place for themselves in the world markets. Through the ‘Make in India’ and ‘StartUp India’ initiatives, he bolstered indigenous manufacturing, boosted entrpreneurships, thus sparking a renewed emphasis on domestic production and innovation. With a boost of a staggering 33 per cent in the Defence exports, his strategy of ensuring that India becomes a serious player in global supply chains paid off. A fine example of this is the ‘Vaccine Maitri’ initiative that showcased Mr. Modi’s commitment to provide indigenously-manufactured vaccine doses to millions of developing nations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the domestic front, Mr. Modi launched innumerable schemes, always keeping in mind welfare of the people. His Government, over the years, pursued an ambitious reform agenda with signature initiatives like ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ that brought sanitation into mainstream discourse, while ‘Ujjwala Yojana’ gave millions of women access to clean cooking fuel. Through the ‘Jan Dhan Yojana’, he brought over 50 crore Indians into the formal banking fold, and keeping welfare of the middle class in mind, he proposed fair tax schemes and incentives. Schemes like ‘Ayushman Bharat’ revolutionised healthcare access, while the ‘PM Awas Yojana’ worked toward housing for all.
Mr. Modi’s economic vision, with many bold initiatives, brought in investments, and with the world placing its faith in the country, today, India, with its fastest growing economy occupies a place of pride as the 4th largest economy in the world. In today’s difficult times, not a mean feat!
Helping India achieve the unthinkable - be it being the first country to land on Moon’s South Pole to building the Chenab Bridge - taking one more step towards connecting the entire country, providing opportunities for youth with world class universities and colleges and benefiting the agriculture sector through his direct benefit transfers, or his Digital India initiative, Mr. Modi’s innovative endeavours have proved to be advantageous to the citizens.
On the international front too, Mr Modi has reshaped India’s image. Today, as the world looks up to us we are no longer a hesitant power, but an assertive, responsible, and globally respected entity. Under his watch, India has forged stronger ties with the foreign nations, taken a balanced stand in a turbulent geopolitical landscape, and emerged as a voice of the Global South.
Year after year, Indians have placed their faith in Mr. Modi, and few can dispute the scale and ambition of what’s been attempted and ultimately achieved. From metros to mandirs, from Make in India to Mann ki Baat - Mr. Modi has left an indelible imprint on modern India’s success story.
Mr. Modi has outlined a definitive strategy for 2047 that will reaffirm India’s strength, values, and purpose.
