Shifting of Exam Department finalised

Acting Vice-Chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) Dr Madhavi Khode Chaware-led committee will prepare plan for shifting the properties housed in the premises of Laxminarayan Innovation Technology University (LITU). Since taking the charge as Vice-Chancellor, Dr Khode has been reviewing the issue and she had inspected examination building in LIT premises, Dr Nelson Mandela International Student Hostel, and other properties. Dr Khode, along with Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Subhash Kondawar, had visited the proposed examination building in RTMNU’s Maharajbag complex for relocation. Recently, the committee headed by Dr Khode met and discussed the issues related to shifting the properties.

The committee has honourable members Vice-Chancellor of LITU Dr Atul Vaidya, Management Council Member Dr Samay Bansod, Management Council Member Ajay Agrawal, Management Council Member Dr Ravishankar Mor, Registrar of RTMNU Dr Raju Hiwase, Registrar of LITU Dr Niraj Khaty, LITU Regulatory Board Member Ajay Deshpande, LITU Regulatory Board Member Mohan Pande, Finance and Accounts Officer Harish Paliwal. According to LITU, the old premises can be easily repaired and renovated smartly with modern multiutility. Furniture that consumes less space can be brought into use. The present Bajaj Bhavan’s third floor is still vacant where initial work of Exam Department can be easily started. RTMNU has constructed few flats near the official residence of RTMNU Vice-Chancellor which are vacant, where people living in LITU’s teachers quarters can be shifted. LITU needs its own campus vacant where it can start other courses.

The Examination Department was inaugurated during the tenure of Laxmanrao Dhoble, the then Higher and Technical Education Minister more than 20 years ago. Back then, nobody had thought that the Examination Department would be shifted to other place. Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology were merged into LITU. Now, LITU wants to conduct an expansion of the departments which can be housed in the existing building where examination section is functioning. Dr Khode-led committee will deliberate on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between LITU and RTMNU as to which property owned by whom, which have been handed over to LITU and which properties LITU wants. The committee will prepare recommendations and then process the shifting of the properties.
