Although, at present people of Sanskardhani have been facing scorching heat, but a major shift in weather conditions is expected in Jabalpur district over the next five days. According to the Weather Department, strong winds accompanied by light to moderate rainfall are likely in Jabalpur and most surrounding areas from June 14 to 18. On June 14 and 15, some areas may experience dust storms and light showers, with rainfall estimated between 11 to 14 mm. A more intense spell is forecast from evening of June 17 through June 18, with heavy rainfall ranging from 70 to 80 mm anticipated.

The district is expected to experience a drop in both day and night temperatures, along with a noticeable increase in humidity. As per long-range forecast, above-normal rainfall is likely across eastern Madhya Pradesh between June 20 and 26. The State continues to experience fluctuating weather patterns. On Friday, temperatures in several cities soared past 40°C. The Weather Department had already issued heat wave alerts in 14 districts, along with thunderstorm and rain warnings in 17 districts. With southwest monsoon gaining momentum, there is a strong possibility of heavy rainfall in many parts of the State over next two days.

The normal onset date of monsoon in Madhya Pradesh is June 15 and it is likely to enter the State via Mandla and Balaghat around this date. Currently, northern limit of the monsoon has reached Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri and Balurghat. Meanwhile, cyclonic circulations over Punjab, western Uttar Pradesh, western Rajasthan and their surrounding regions are also influencing the weather. Apart from that, a cyclonic system over Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha and a trough extending up to Karnataka are expected to accelerate monsoon’s progress into the State. These developing weather systems are contributing to the alternating patterns of heat waves and scattered rainfall, but a notable intensification of monsoon activity is expected from Saturday onward.
