Police’s Hawk Force, in a joint operation, neutralised four Maoists, including three women, in a fierce encounter in the dense forests of Pachama Dadar near Bithli police outpost, under Roopjhar police station, on Saturday. The operation, triggered by intelligence inputs, saw heavy gunfire from Naxalites, prompting a robust retaliation by security forces. The encounter is ongoing, with fears that the Maoist casualty count may rise as search operations intensify in the hilly terrain. Superintendent of Police Aditya Mishra confirmed the recovery of a grenade launcher, a self-loading rifle (SLR), automatic weapons, rocket launchers, and a large cache of ammunition from the slain Naxalites, who were long-wanted with bounties on their heads.

The operation, part of a meticulously planned strategy, targeted Maoist activities monitored over months. Mishra noted that the search continues to ensure no insurgents escape, with detailed updates to follow upon completion. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, addressing the success from Pachmarhi, congratulated the Hawk Force, emphasising the State’s resolve, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to eradicate Naxalism by March 2026. He highlighted Balaghat as Madhya Pradesh’s sole Naxal-affected district and praised the police for thwarting a potential attack. Yadav reiterated that Maoists must surrender or face elimination, citing the recovery of heavy weaponry as evidence of their intent to disrupt peace. The state has previously rewarded anti-Naxal operatives with promotions, reinforcing its commitment to tribal welfare and security. The Hawk Force’s valour underscores their pivotal role in this ongoing battle.
