Congress Committee President Jitu Patwari has lauded the State Government’s decision to procure moong at Minimum Support Price (MSP) as a triumph of farmers’ unity and awareness. Congratulating the farmers, he stated that their united voice compelled the government to take this decision. Patwari recalled that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had, until recently, dismissed moong as ‘poison’ and had even refused the demands of farmer union leaders for moong procurement, citing the state government’s inability to do so. However, he emphasised that farmers across the state collectively raised their voices and threatened agitation, which ultimately led to the government’s current action. While thanking the Chief Minister, Patwari remarked,

“Better late than never, he understood the plight of the farmers. But this gratitude is solely due to the strength of the farmers, not the Government’s initiative.” Patwari further asserted that the farmers’ struggle remains incomplete. He urged the Government to fulfill its promises regarding the procurement of wheat at Rs 2,700 per quintal, soybeans at Rs 6,000, and paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal. Identifying himself as a farmer’s son, Patwari affirmed his commitment to fighting for farmers’ rights on every platform. He clarified that his advocacy is not about politicising inflation but about securing the legitimate rights of farmers. In conclusion, Patwari declared that in the coming times, the Congress party would be at the forefront of every battle for farmers’ rights and would hold the Government accountable on all fronts.
