Man found murdered in Katol; Wife, one other arrested
A man who went missing from work was later found murdered near his home in Masli village under the Katol Police Station. The police have arrested his wife and another man in connection with the crime.
The deceased, Yogesh Amrit Ghate (40), was working in Kadulla Layout, Panchvati, Katol. On June 13, when he failed
to show up for work, his
employer Rajendra Suryabhanji Thakre (54), a resident of Panchvati, went to his house to check on him.
At the house, Yogesh’s wife told Rajendra that her husband had not returned home. However, when Rajendra asked her about someone being seen inside the house, she gave vague and suspicious answers. Finding her behaviour odd, Rajendra informed the Katol Police and accompanied them back to the house.
During questioning, the woman gave conflicting statements, which raised further doubts. The police then searched the house and its surrounding area. Shockingly, they found Yogesh’s dead body 150 feet behind the house.
It is suspected that his wife was involved in the murder, possibly with the help of an accomplice. Based on Rajendra’s report, a case of murder was registered under relevant sections of the BNS.
The police soon arrested Yogesh’s wife and Anil Digambara Tagde (35), a resident of Masli, in connection with the crime. Both were produced in court, and the court has granted police custody till June 17, 2025, for further investigation. The motive behind the murder is yet to be revealed.

According to the police, Babanrao had also recently employed a woman and a minor child, who are already involved in legal matters, to help at the site just 3-4 days before the incident.
On the day of the murder, around 11 am, the woman and the minor arrived at the construction site in an auto-rickshaw while Babanrao was present. After some time, he left the site to have breakfast. When he returned an hour later, he noticed that the woman and the child had not resumed work.

Love triangle: Youth murdered
in Gorewada forest
Staff Reporter
A 20-year-old youth named Aman Rajendra Dhruvavanshi, a resident of Maharana Apartment in Swami Nagar, Gorewada, was murdered on Saturday night in alleged love triangle. The crime took place in the hilly area of Gorewada forest under the Mankapur police station.
Police have arrested three accused — Lucky Sunil Mendhewar (18), a resident of Sweeper Colony near Gangabai Ghat; Abhishek Rajesh Kataria (20), a resident of Gorewada; and Sulabh Thakur (19). A 17-year-old minor boy was also involved and has been taken into custody.
According to the police, both Aman and Lucky were unknowingly in a relationship with the same girl Punam (name changed).
Around seven months ago, Aman and Punam were injured in a road accident while returning from Rama Dam. It was then that Lucky discovered their relationship.
A confrontation occurred between Aman and Lucky, after which Aman ended his ties with Punam. However, Lucky suspected that Aman was still in contact with her.
To confirm his doubts, Lucky created a fake Instagram account using Punam’s name and started chatting with Aman. On Saturday night, using this fake account, Lucky invited Aman to meet at a military ground. When Aman arrived, Lucky and Abhishek were already there. They had an argument and then took Aman on his own motorcycle to a remote hill area in the Gorewada forest. Sulabh and the minor boy joined them there.
The four assaulted Aman. During the attack, Lucky stabbed him in the chest with a knife and killed him. All the accused then fled the scene. The next day, Abhishek surrendered to the police, which helped uncover the incident.
Police have now registered a case of murder and arrested the three main accused. The minor has been taken into juvenile custody. Aman’s body was recovered and sent for post-mortem after completing the necessary legal procedures. The investigation is ongoing.
