Anjani boys Ira girls clinch hockey titles

ANJANI Hockey Club boys and Ira International School, girls (Butibori) won the U-17 titles in the 7-A-Side Hockey Tournament organised by Nagpur District Unified Hockey Association at Vidarbha Women’s Hockey Association (Tiger Gap) ground, Sadar. In the girls title clash, Ira International School beat Kids World School 5-0. Bhargavi Urkudkar scored three goals while Maitree Thakare and Sumdhirani Das scored one goal each. In the semi-finals, Ira beat Swaminarayan School 4-0 while Kids World School beat Vidya Mandir (Wadi) via tie-breaker 3-0. In an exciting boys final, Anjani Hockey Club deflated Eleven Star Club 3-1. Anjani Hockey Club captain Nilesh Gupta scored two goals in 2nd and 23rd minutes. While Yash Bamnel scored in the 16th minute.
 
For Eleven Star Tanmay Rewatkar scored the only goal in 18th minute. In boys semi-finals, Eleven Star beat Ira International School 2-0 and Anjani beat Swaminarayan School 4-0. Nilesh Gupta and Bhargavi Urkudkar were declared as best players of the tournament. Total 16 teams participated in the one-day tournament. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Kishor Jichkar, former Corporator. Prizes were distributed by Vinod Trivedi, President, NDUHA and Kanhaiya Fulsunge. On the occasion, Vivek Siriah, Sunil Madne, Kuldeep Reddy, Satish Fulsunge, Parag Bankar, Imtiyaz Rahim, Millar Francis, Shakti Tiwari, Shahid Bux, Bablu Neware, Abhilash Sande, Mamta Mohonto, Riyaz Kazi, Pranay Kadu, Gaurav Raut, Shanawaz Khan and others were present. Noel Joseph conducted the programme while Pramod Jain proposed a vote of thanks.
