Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Monday disbursed the June instalment of the ‘Ladli Bahna Yojana’ from Belkheda of Bargi Assembly in Jabalpur district. Over Rs 1,551.44 crore was transferred directly to the bank accounts of more than 1.27 crore women beneficiaries across the state. This was the 25th instalment under the government’s flagship scheme. Apart from that, the Chief Minister transferred over Rs 341 crore to pension holders’ accounts during the event. He also announced the establishment of a government college in Belkheda, along with a revenue office and accommodation facilities for visiting officials. In a festive gesture, Dr Yadav declared that an additional Rs 250 will be given to Ladli Bahna beneficiaries next month as a Raksha Bandhan gift, supplementing the regular monthly amount of Rs 1,250.

Addressing a huge gathering, Dr Yadav said “No one chants ‘America Mata ki Jai’ or ‘England Mata ki Jai’. India is the only country where we proudly say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. We are a civilisation that has revered matrushakti for thousands of years.” Yadav added that the blessings of our sisters enrich life. CM said he felt honoured to wear the beautiful cap gifted by the women (sisters). “It feels like their radiance rests on my head. I seek your blessings with folded hands”. Reflecting his frequent visits, Yadav joked, “I have been to Jabalpur so often, it feels like I should build a house here.”

The Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 22.44 crore. This included the inauguration of five projects worth Rs 15.09 crore and the foundation laying for three projects worth Rs 7.43 crore. It may be noted that the programme was earlier scheduled for June 13, but due to the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad the event was postponed. A large number of public representatives including MP Ashish Dubey, MLA Neeraj Singh (Bargi), Ashok Rohani (Cantonment), former MLA Pratibha Singh, senior administrative and police officials along with a large number of women beneficiaries were present on the occasion.
