Police nab habitual thief, recover stolen gold jewellery

Police team with the arrested criminal in case of theft

Ghamapur police succeeded in apprehending a habitual thief and retrieved stolen gold jewelleries and electronic gadgets amounting to Rs 1.15 lakh from him. The arrested has been identified as Sudarshan Shivlani (29), a resident of Shukla Hotel, Chandmari. SHO of Ghamapur Police Station Satish Kumar Andhawan informed that, on November 12, 2024, a woman Chitra Sonane (36), resident of Panchsheel School, Chandmari, had filed a complaint that she locked her house and taken her ill husband to AIIMS Hospital, where he was later admitted and sadly passed away on December 17, 2024. On November 20, a neighbour informed her that the lock on her house was broken. Upon returning home on November 22, she found that the locks on both the main door and locker were broken. Stolen items included crown company TV, laptop, fiber cable machine, a pair of gold earrings and cash of Rs 10,000 were missing from the house. Ghamapur police had registered a case under Sections 331(4) and 305 of BNS.
 
After continuous questioning of suspects and habitual offenders in the area, police received information that a man named Sudarshan Shivlani, resident of Shukla Hotel, Chandmari, was trying to sell suspicious electronic goods. Taking prompt action on the information, police started a search and trapped the suspected man. In his interrogation, the accused broke out and confessed the theft at vacant house near Panchsheel School. On his identification, police retrieved the stolen commodities hidden in an abandoned GRP quarter. It may be noted that the arrested accused Sudarshan Shivlani has a criminal history and is involved in 7 previous cases, including those under the Arms Act and assault. The criminal was arrested with active working of police team led by SHO Satish Kumar Andhawan comprised of Head Constable Prem Shankar Tripathi, Balram Pandey, Constables Vijay Singh, Krishan Tiwari and Suraj Mishra.
