Regular arguments and fights broke out between couple over wife’s younger brother’s interactions with husband’s niece
A 24-year-old newlywed woman, Farha Khan, allegedly took her own life by hanging at her home in Rajiv Nagar, under the MP Nagar police station area, on Monday morning around 6 AM. The incident followed a heated dispute with her husband, Aamir Khan, over her younger brother’s interactions with Aamir’s niece on Instagram. Farha, who was two months pregnant, was found unconscious and rushed to JP Hospital, where she was declared dead.
Farha, married to Aamir Khan since March 2025, lived close to her parental home in Rajiv Nagar. The couple’s conflict arose when Aamir discovered that Farha’s younger brother, Fardeen, was chatting with his niece on Instagram and speaking on calls.
Aamir reprimanded both his niece and Farha, leading to a heated argument. Angered, Farha went to her parental home on Sunday night, where she confronted and assaulted Fardeen, blaming him for the dispute. Aamir later visited, scolded Farha again, and told her to stay at her parental home permanently. Farha returned to her in-laws’ house around 5 AM Monday and was found hanging an hour later. Aamir informed her family, claiming she was unconscious, and took her to JP Hospital.
Farha’s family alleges that Aamir’s constant reprimands and the marital discord over Fardeen’s chats pushed her to the extreme step.
They suspect foul play, claiming Aamir delayed informing them despite the proximity of their homes, cut the noose, and moved the body to the hospital without notifying the police initially.
Farha died around 6 AM on June 16, 2025.
The dispute began the previous night, and she returned to her marital home early Monday morning. MP Nagar police have registered a merg (death inquiry) and initiated an investigation. The body was sent for a post-mortem, and after the procedure on Monday afternoon, it was handed over to the family.
Police are probing the allegations of abetment and the family’s suspicions of foul play, with further action pending the post-mortem report and detailed statements.
